I Come Quickly

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Tuesday, October 21, 2025

Today's Text: Revelation 22:6-21

Key Verse: Revelation 22:12 (KJV): "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be."

The triumphant and final words of the Lord Jesus to John amid the isolation of Patmos thunder through eternity and resound in every generation: “Behold, I come quickly.” This is not merely the echo of an ancient promise but a living and present proclamation to the church, a persistent reminder of the nearness and reality of His return. For as John gazed into the unveiled future, he saw neither hopelessness nor chaos, but a radiant King—alive, triumphant, and certain to return as Judge and Rewarder.

The urgency of “I come quickly” sweeps aside the fog of delay and the subtle temptation to spiritual drowsiness. It is the antidote to procrastination, the call to readiness, the clarion summons to holy living in a world prone to indifference. The world may scoff, the skeptics may mock, and even believers may be lulled into false security, but the Lord declares with irresistible urgency: warning that His coming shall not tarry beyond its set moment. Our days abound with distractions and the coercion of the urgent duties and bills that contend with the King’s imminent return.

We'd better wake up with clear-eyed vigilance, fervent faith, and a life aligned with eternal purpose. The words, “Behold, I come quickly,”—are both warning and comfort. For the apathetic, they urge repentance and urgency; for the persecuted, they bring hope and vindication. They expose the shallowness of a faith content with routines and self-made plans. Christ comes not as a distant possibility but as the soon-arriving Sovereign. His coming will bring reward and judgment, joy and trembling.

Let us not be as those who waste their watch, but as stewards who, hearing the footfalls of Eternity, live each moment in light of His face. For the Lord who speaks these words is faithful and true. The vision He gave John is the birthright of every believer longing for “the city which hath foundations.” Let us shake off the beasts of complacency, slumber and carelessness, and live ready—our lamps trimmed, our hearts awake, our hands busy in His work, and our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace."

Action Steps: Evaluate your sense of spiritual urgency. Are you alert to the nearness of Christ’s return, or are you slumbering in the comforts of today? Let His “quickly” awaken you to holy alertness and joyful expectation. Increase your readiness by deepening your prayer life, serving with passion, and anchoring your hope in the eternal kingdom. Comfort others with His promise, and call those who are far off to repentance and faith.

Quote for the Day: "To live in the light of His coming is to hold this world loosely and eternity tightly." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Our dear Majestic and soon Coming King, Thsnk You for Your word to us this day. Indeed, You have spoken, and Your Word does not fail. Awaken in me a lively hope, constant watchfulness, and a holy zeal. Break the chains of complacency, and teach me to live every hour awaiting the sound of Your trumpet. May my life reflect spiritual urgency, faithful service, and the blessed hope of Your appearing. Come quickly, Lord Jesus, even so. Amen.
