Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, April 30, 2022
Today Text: Matthew 7:1-12
Key Verse: Matthew 7:12 (ESV): “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
The highest blessing of the church is the call and the opportunity to be like Jesus. We may not be as perfect as He is, but it’s a great privilege to be able to strive to resemble Him in our dealings with others. God deals in justice, equity and benevolence to all men. Can we show His love to others by exemplifying these three attributes wherever we are? Why do these seem so hard to emulate? In this Golden Rule, Jesus makes being like Him in kind disposition really easy for us: “whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them.”
If and when we all learn to treat others with integrity and kindness as we would think it reasonable to be treated by them; then we have a sure path to living justly, kindly and benevolently. A new month is ahead of us; let us seek, in all circumstances, to make a difference in our world. No better world is promised if the virtues recommended by our Lord are absent. Let us therefore be the change that we seek. Following this text will help us defeat the spirit of selfishness and injustice — the two demons that are ruining everything in our generation. Take a second look at the text and you will see that it is the missing ingredient needed to be just, candid, and impartial; as well as necessary to remove most evil from our world.
