Out at Last: True Wealth Solution

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, February 2, 2020

Today’s Text: 1 Tim. 6:6-10

Key Verse: 1 Timothy 6:6 (ESV): “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”

I have seen and read of many millionaires who have lots of desirable assets, and yet are most miserable men on earth. Some of them commit suicide, and some say express deep life regrets in their dying hour. It then means that possessions are not true wealth. Otherwise, most angry men on our streets should be happy and walk around with delirious joy instead. Earthly wealth has with it many untold sorrows—high heart rates, high rate of divorce, hiking suicide, depression, child abuse, and other personal and social problems that are beyond description.

Our Lord makes it clear in Luke 12:15 that “a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” No! Worldly things cannot bring us true happiness. And since that is the case, then true wealth is the godliness solution. And whereas, godliness may simply be taken as genuine fear and love of God, with an obedient heart to his will;contentment is inseparable companion of faith. That is the way to genuine and unspeakable gain—both in this life and all of eternity.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for not always giving me what I want because they sometimes draw my heart from true satisfaction in You. Please give me a daily growing contentment in your provision, in Jesus precious name. Amen.
