Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, April 7, 2020
Today’s Text: Isaiah 52:1-12
Key Verse: Isaiah 52:11 (KJV): ”Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.”
Today’s text presents us with oracle of God through Isaiah to the exiles in Babylon. No matter how long, good or bad Babylon is, it is not their home. God is bringing His people back to Zion. And when He does, they are not to plunder any spoil that would defile them. They are to bring only Jehovah’s vessels that Nebuchadnezzar looted from the temple, which Cyrus shall restore.
Spiritually, Babylon represents material world, satanic hold or kingdom of darkness; and Zion, the kingdom of light. All God’s people are bearers of God’s vessels; and the context speaks to our situation in many ways. In order to lay hold on our promised deliverance, we are to cast our minds back on why our present reproach has befallen us. We are to live in keeping with our Christian profession, which is separation. We must purge ourselves, and turn away from accursed things.
Quote for the Day: "Genuine believers in Christ are pilgrims of a spiritual Exodus, called out of a transient material world unto a glorious eternal inheritance.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, help me to make myself a clean bearer of your manifold grace, in Jesus Name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
