Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, March 14, 2021
Today’s Text: 1 Kings 18:20-24
Key Verse: 1 Kings 18:21 — “Elijah went before the people and said, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him." But the people said nothing."

In a world full of broken dreams; where the truth is hard to find; where, for every promise that is kept, there are many left behind. Men and women are confused and their sense of right is corrupt. God is looking for people who will stand up for Him and stand up for what is right. Elijah stood for what was right even though he was alone. He was not ashamed to stand alone for the God. He believes god enough to stand up for Him in front of, and against almost a thousand prophets who followed Baal. There is no doubt that he suffered some open rebuke and reproach. We can be sure he did suffer intense persecution. We all know how we have hard times standing up before people who (even) love and care forus talk less of those we know are our adversaries.
Christians must know that whether right or wrong, there is always a consequence for taking any stand. Elijah knew this; but he also know that though the people may reject him, God will not. He trusts that God will not forsake him. Until we too grow our faith to the point of genuine conviction that the one who called us is faithful, and will also.make his promises good; we cannot stand up for what is right. And except we do so, we cannot bring our whoring and swaying nation back to God. The world is waiting for us to take a stand. We can not afford to fail them. There id do much evil and wrong today so much that the devil uses the intensity of what is already amiss and wrong to bully us from daring to stand up against him, and for what is right; but God calls on us to always take a stand for what is right. We cannot afford to fail Him.
Quote for the Day: “Religion to asks God to stand up for us; God asks us to stand up for Him.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord, please help us. Keep us upon our feet for You before an age that gropes upon its knees for sin, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
