Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, April 8, 2021
Today’s Text: John 12:20-33
Key Verse: John 12:21 (NIV) — “They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. "Sir," they said, "we would like to see Jesus.”

Man (male or female) has been created to always have desires for something good: something he lacks and needs; something better than he has; and something to quell and quench his thirst. This desire is called spiritual impulse. This positions predisposes humanity for awakening, renewal, and/or newness. No matter the earthly good a persons have seen, there is always a thirst caused by our desire for something truer and better. Not only because we are insatiable; but because all we can get in/of the world, in their very nature, are unsatisfying. But Jesus is the true desires of all ages. Sought alone, His supreme excellency promises mankind the hope that cannot fail or disappoint both in this world and in all eternity.
Like the Greeks reported in today’s text, many have heard much of Jesus. And perhaps, in your case, maybe, more than enough of Him — through church, tracts, tapes, and social media. At least enough to induce you to seek a personal encounter with Him. What have you done about the desire? How has the knowledge motivate you to seek the altogether lovely savior? Have you sought a closer personal knowledge and fellowship with Him? Seeing Jesus is having an encounter with Him. That was the spirit in which these inquiring Greeks sought to see Him. What about you? Are you seeking Jesus? Have you been to Him for the cleansing power? Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour? Jesus is not fiction. He is alive, and is always seen of them who seek Him. You too can come through the press today. Break up with every barrier. Say to yourself and to anyone who cares: I would see Jesus.
Quote for the Day: “Jesus is more willing to be seen of us than we all are ever willing to seek Him. He is more able to save than we all are in need of salvation.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Loving Father, please give me the grace to seek You diligently all through the day, and all through my life, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
