Today’s Text: Daniel 4:28-35
Key Verses: Psalm 60:12 (ESV): “With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.”

David and the armies of Israel had a looming battle against Edom at a time they didn’t feel adequate to face their enemies. We all pass through such junctures of life when we feel inadequate and feeble. But this text exemplifies what our faith should look like when we ever feel that way. Today , we are blessed with a golden opportunity to learn from the faith and confidence which David demonstrated in such moments—how he was so strengthened by the fact that when the Lord fights for His people, and is not displeased with them, victory is assured. God looks favorably upon His children and shines His light into their hearts when their trust is in Him and not in man.
With the emphasis on “with God,” today’s text reflects on and reclaims the prophecy of Balaam in Numbers 24:18 that despite our perceived personal inadequacies; God steps in for His men and causes them to do valiantly. This is an encouragement to trusts God and see beyond our circumstances. God is with those who are with Him. And, He causes them to see victory, not defeat. For David, turning to man for help equals another defeat; but as long as God is our only source of strength and courage, we can do valiantly. For by His Name and power alone can Edom be trodden down and pass into our possession.
Quote for the Day: “A sure path to a defeated and frustrated hope is to trust in sources that cannot avail or deliver." (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, my faith is rested in your help; and my hope is rekindled again that with you all negative forces are trodden down — those on the street, the little foxes in the vineyard, powers that be, principalities of this wicked age, or even the devil himself— in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
